Minnesota Chili
Nicely spicy homemade chili like my mom makes. My husband raves about this recipe.
Ingredients
1 Can 8 oz. tomato sauce
3 Tablespoons chili powder
1 chopped onion
1 Pound ground beef
1 T cumin
1 Quart canned stewed tomatoes (or diced tomatoes)
1 Teaspoon garlic powder
2 Cans drained kidney beans
1 can black or garbanzo beans
1 Can pork and beans
36 ounces tomato juice (approximate - use more to taste)
salt and pepper
1 can chili beans in sauce (optional)
2 tsp soy sauce
2 tsp brown sugar
1 pinch mexican oregano
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
1 pinch ground adobo chili (optional)
Directions
Brown hamburger and onion in large skillet. Add all other ingredients and simmer on low until flavors blended, at minimum 40 minutes. Serve with shredded cheddar cheese, crackers or tortilla chips, and sour cream. This is the base for the recipe. This can be made in the slow cooker as well.
